My name is Tom Quinn. I have had a love of art from an early age. Warren, my father, was a master carver and we had a family history of artists and crafts people. My sister was a ballerina, my uncle was a photographer and author, my grandmother a master weaver and lace artist, and my great grandfather was a master oil painter. The Quinn family has direct lineage to one of the founding fathers of Eastham, Massachusetts. Being a native of Cape Cod enabled me to create a great love and respect of the ocean and waterways around the shores.
After graduating from Framingham State College (now University), where I received a BA in Fine Art, I became the artist for a silkscreen company on the Cape, Pilgrim Prints. Four years into that job, I hurt my back and could not sit and draw. I stopped creating art for a few years while I recovered from my injury. I would only paint for family and friends until 2007, when I returned to painting professionally. It was then that I took on the role of an adult foster care provider and established a studio in our home where I began painting again. I have shown professionally in Provincetown, New Bedford, and Fairhaven. I have been a member of Gallery X for eight years and have shown in the LGBTQ exhibits there. |
