I’m Maryellen Kenney. Pride is a beautiful time for people to celebrate their humanity. For myself, it is a time to walk together with friends and family and to greet the old and new people in my community. I have attended many Pride celebrations and even when I was alone at some of those celebrations, I had always felt that I was with family!

As an artist, I love to combine objects from my collections of things into assemblage pieces using various bases for these works. I love to use sea glass from the New England seashore in some of my work. It is hard sometimes to part with some of my favorite one-of-a-kind bits and pieces! For example, the rare purple colored sea glass is from the Cape, as told to me by an older woman who had given it to me. Many pieces of my driftwood collection were also given to me! Also, I love small things like discarded single earrings, cool rock, and odd pieces of wood from salvaged architecture. I pretty much find a use for all weird wonderful stuff!
